All rivers run normal: FFC

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th August, 2016) The Federal Flood Commission(FFC) has said all main rivers including Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normal. According to daily FFC here, the river flows and reservoir elevations indicates that Tarbela & Mangla reservoirs are at elevations of 1543.16 feet and 1237.25 feet respectively, which are 6.84 feet & 4.75 feet below their respective Maximum Conservation Levels of 1550.00 feet and 1242.00 feet. The combined live storage capacity of Tarbela, Chashma & Mangla reservoirs is 12.734 MAF as compared to last year's 14.067 MAF.

According to Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, yesterday's Low Pressure Area over Northwestern Rajasthan (India) & adjoining Bahawalpur Division has become insignificant, whereas yesterday's Monsoon Low over Northwestern Bay of Bengal has also become Less Marked.

Yesterday's trough of Westerly Wave continues to prevail over Kashmir. Weak Seasonal Low lies over Northern Balochistan.

As predicted by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, isolated thunderstorm/rain is expected over the upper catchments of all major Rivers including North- Northeastern Punjab i.e.

Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala & Lahore Divisions, besides, D.G. Khan Division, Southeastern Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Northeastern Balochistan during the next 24 hours. Significant rainfall events reported by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore during the past 24 hours include; Mandibahauddin=73 mm, Mangla=45 mm, Lahore (Lukshmi=61 mm, Upper Mall=52 mm, Jail Road=37 mm, Taj Pura=35 mm, Gulberg=32 mm, Misri Shah=26 mm, Shahi Qilla=24 mm, Mughal Pura=20 mm, Punjab University=16 mm, Airport=15 mm & Johar Town=12 mm), Sargodha (City=35 mm & Airport=27 mm), Domel=33 mm, Palandri=24 mm, Islamabad (Airport=19 mm & Saidpur=10 mm), Kallar & Palote=18 mm each, Talhatta=15 mm, Risalpur=13 mm, Muzaffarabad=12 mm, Besham, Balakot & Dir=10 mm each.
