Body recovered from Chenab

MUZAFFARGARH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Jul, 2025) The body of a 56-year-old man who went missing after drowning in the River Chenab near Rangpur has been recovered after a joint search operation by Rescue 1122 teams from Muzaffargarh and Multan.

According to the Rescue Control Room Muzaffargarh, the victim, identified as Imam Bakhsh, son of Ghulam Muhammad, was attempting to swim across the river near Ameer Pur Kanka police post in Rangpur when he lost balance and drowned.

Upon receiving an emergency call, Rescue 1122 immediately dispatched an ambulance from the nearby Rangpur Rescue Point and mobilized the Water Search and Rescue Team from Muzaffargarh.

Given the proximity of the incident site to Multan, the Multan Water Rescue Team also arrived swiftly to assist in the search operation.

Due to poor visibility and foggy conditions on the previous evening, the water rescue operation was temporarily suspended and resumed early morning on July 28.

Using boat search, scuba search, and line search techniques, the joint team carried out a six-hour search across a two-kilometer stretch of the river. Eventually, the body was located approximately 300 feet from the incident site.

As per the family's request not to pursue legal proceedings, Rescue 1122 handed over the body to them for burial.
