ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Oct, 2025) Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf stated on Thursday that the protests in Pakistan following the Gaza ceasefire agreement were unnecessary, urging citizens to focus on peace and unity.
Addressing the media, the minister said the Gaza issue had been resolved and praised Pakistan’s role in promoting peace in the region.
He expressed concern over the protest staged by Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) at a time when the global community was welcoming the ceasefire agreement.
Sardar Muhammad Yousaf urged the public to observe Youm-e-Tashakur on Friday and celebrate the end of bloodshed in Palestine following the ceasefire deal.
“Only peaceful protest is the democratic right of every individual,” the minister said, emphasizing that the state has a responsibility to protect its citizens and maintain public order.
Criticizing the violent actions of TLP, the minister said that religious leaders and scholars do not condone such behavior, referring to the damage to property and attacks on police carried out during the protest.
Referring to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, he clarified that no legal action would be taken against any Imam, Khateeb, religious leader, or institution.
However, all miscreants involved in riots and vandalism would be identified, questioned, and arrested. He further stated that the Government of Pakistan had played an important role in facilitating the peace agreement, and the international community is recognizing Pakistan’s efforts.
The minister extended full support from religious leaders and scholars to the government in its efforts to bring peace to Palestine and Gaza, while strongly condemning all unconstitutional and illegal protests and marches.
