ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Jul, 2025) Prime Minister’s Coordinator Rana Ihsan Afzal Khan, on Friday said that the government is shifting its economic strategy towards long-term, sustainable growth, focusing on sectors like information technology and agriculture.
Talking to a private news channel, he said that past reliance on consumption-led and import-heavy growth had trapped Pakistan in repeated boom-bust cycles.
“We want consistent development, not short-lived spurts that cause economic instability,” he said.
He added that the government’s growth target of 4.
2% for this fiscal year would not come at the cost of increasing the current account deficit.
Afzal also downplayed PTI’s planned protests, stating that they are disjointed and lack public traction.
“They’ve tried more than two dozen times and failed. Their ranks are divided, and there is distrust even within the KP and Punjab leadership,” he said.
He further noted that the public is not inclined toward agitation, pointing instead to the government’s diplomatic gains and economic direction.
