Hamdard Shura highlights Islam’s message of peace, tolerance

The Hamdard Foundation Pakistan organised its monthly Shura meeting at Hamdard Markaz Rawalpindi, focusing on the theme “Islam — a religion of peace and love”

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2026) The Hamdard Foundation Pakistan organised its monthly Shura meeting at Hamdard Markaz Rawalpindi, focusing on the theme “Islam — a religion of peace and love”.

President Hamdard Shura Sadia Rashid said islam was a universal religion embodying peace, tranquillity and security, and a source of mercy for all humanity. She said the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was sent as a mercy to mankind and set a practical example of love, compassion and forgiveness.

“A true Muslim is one from whose hands and tongue others are safe,” she said, adding that Islam teaches believers to wish for others what they wish for themselves. She said that in an era marked by hatred and division, the message of Islam had become more relevant than ever and should be reflected through conduct based on tolerance and goodwill.

Addressing the gathering, scholar Dr Shahzad Iqbal Sham and Speaker Hamdard Shura Imtiaz Haider said Islam promotes peace through love and emphasises tolerance towards followers of other religions.

They said adherence to the teachings of the Holy Prophet (SAW) could help eliminate hatred and foster global peace.

They added that Islam teaches mutual brotherhood and harmony among nations and societies, urging people to adopt its principles to build a more peaceful world.

Other speakers, including Professor Niaz Muhammad Irfan, Professor Zahid Ali Qureshi, Tariq Shaheen, Tanveer Nusrat, Dr Farhat Abbas, Naeem Akram Qureshi, Hakeem Bashir Bhairavi and Dr Mahmood ur Rehman, described Islam as a comprehensive code of life grounded in peace, tolerance and compassion.

Participants called for promoting the true message of Islam to help foster a world based on harmony, brotherhood and mutual respect.
