IIUI-Peshawar University Jointly Organize Workshop On Interfaith

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th August, 2016) : A workshop on Interfaith Harmony and Tolerance, jointly organized by International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) and Peshawar University, concluded at summer campus of the later university at Bara Galli. The three-day workshop was a joint effort of Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IRD) of IIUI and Peshawar University's Islamic Studies Department which was attended by the top management of the both institutions and famous scholars, said a press release here Monday. "Holy Quran is the best source of abolishing differences" said Dr.
Masoom Yasinzai, Rector IIUI while addressing the participants of the workshop. He urged the universities to work for creating an atmosphere of interfaith-harmony. He suggested that more workshops on the topic should be organized where religious scholars across the country should be invited to share thoughts.
He said that such workshops can pave the way for the betterment of society and can lead it towards peace and tranquility. Vice Chancellor Peshawar University Dr Muhammad Rasool Jan said in his remarks that all eyes are on the educational institutions as these are the sources which can take the society out of prevailing circumstances.
He lauded both the IRD and Peshawar varsity's Islamic Studies Department for holding the workshop. The workshop was also addressed by IIUI's Department of Hadit Head Dr. Fateh ur Rehman, Peshawar University's Islamic Studies Dean Dr.
Meraj ul islam Zia, former chairman Islamic Ideology Council Dr. Muhammad Khalid Masood and Executive Director IRD Dr. Husn ul Amin and other renowned scholars. Participants were also given a lecture on "social media and sectarianism" by journalist Sabooh Syed.
