Islamabad hosts high-level event on world day against Human Trafficking

A high-level event was held in Islamabad to mark the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, bringing together national and international stakeholders to reaffirm their commitment to combating human trafficking

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Jul, 2025) A high-level event was held in Islamabad to mark the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, bringing together national and international stakeholders to reaffirm their commitment to combating human trafficking.

Organized in collaboration with FIA, UNODC, IOM, ILO, SSDO, ICMPD, and IRRA, the event focused on the theme “Human Trafficking is an Organized Crime – End Exploitation.” Representatives from the Ministry of Interior, foreign embassies and international partners, including Canada, the EU, US, UK, Australia and Norway participated.

Speakers emphasized that human trafficking is a global, organized crime that exploits vulnerable populations. They called for stronger law enforcement, international cooperation, victim support and public awareness.

FIA DG Mohsin Mukhtar Raja highlighted Pakistan’s National Action Plan and the 2018 anti-trafficking law, reaffirming the government’s commitment to protect victims’ rights. UNODC, IOM, ILO, and other partners stressed the need for a unified and rights-based approach to end human trafficking.
