PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Oct, 2025) To combat the scourge of terrorism, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police have established a specialized Sniper Squad equipped with modern training and advanced weaponry.
According to the Central Police Office (CPO) Peshawar on Suny, the squad will be deployed in mountainous valleys, border regions and southern districts during anti-terror operations.
Each sniper squad will consist of 10 highly trained personnel, capable of targeting concealed enemies from long distances with precision.
The CPO stated that the initial deployment will cover southern districts, the Malakand Division and sensitive border areas to ensure swift response and effective countermeasures against terrorist threats.
To maintain operational efficiency during harsh winter conditions, snipers will be provided with thermal imaging devices for clear visibility during nighttime or foggy conditions. The unit, composed of Elite Force officers, underwent three months of intensive sniper training, enhancing both their defensive and offensive capabilities.
Police officials expressed confidence that the formation of this sniper squad will significantly strengthen security measures across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and help reduce terrorism-related incidents in high-risk areas.
