KU holds rally to express solidarity with Kashmiri people

The University of Karachi organized a dignified and solemn rally on the occasion of Youm-e-Istihsal-e-Kashmir (Kashmir Exploitation Day), to express unwavering solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiri people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on Wednesday

KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Aug, 2026) The University of Karachi organized a dignified and solemn rally on the occasion of Youm-e-Istihsal-e-Kashmir (Kashmir Exploitation Day), to express unwavering solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiri people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on Wednesday.

KU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Tufail Jokhio led the rally and witnessed enthusiastic participation from the registrar, deans, faculty members, students, officers, and employees of the university.

The rally commenced from the KU Administrative Block and concluded at Azadi Chowk, symbolizing the collective voice of the KU community in support of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.

The participants carried banners and placards, raising slogans that reflected their commitment to the just cause of Kashmir and their rejection of oppression and exploitation.

Addressing the gathering, the KU VC Professor Dr Muhammad Tufail reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering stance, stating that the country will continue to extend diplomatic, political, and moral support to the people of IIOJK in their struggle for the right to self-determination.

He emphasized that the entire Pakistani nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the oppressed Kashmiri people and will support their legitimate struggle at every level.

He demanded that the Kashmiri people be granted their fundamental right to self-determination in accordance with the relevant United Nations resolutions, enabling them to freely decide their future.

He reiterated KU’s commitment to raising its voice for the basic rights of the Kashmiri people and assured that the university will continue to express solidarity with them at every possible forum.

KU VC Professor Dr Muhammad Tufail highlighted that the observance of Kashmir Exploitation Day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the Kashmiri people and the ongoing struggle they face under difficult circumstances.

He stressed that it is the responsibility of every institution, including universities, to play its role in amplifying the voices of the oppressed and ensuring that their plight remains in global focus.

The rally concluded with renewed pledges of support and solidarity, as the KU community collectively vowed to continue standing by the Kashmiri people until their just struggle achieves success.
