HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th May, 2026) A committee comprising members of the Anti-Harassment Cell of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Jamshoro has referred a recently reported harassment case to the Office of the Ombudsman Sindh for further investigation.

According to the University's spokesperson on Tuesday, the Harassment Prevention Committee, constituted under the directives of the Higher education Commission (HEC) decided to withdraw from conducting an internal inquiry after the complainant expressed a lack of confidence in the process and besides a social media trial of the case.

The university administration stated that the matter has been formally forwarded to the Ombudsman Sindh to ensure an independent, legal and transparent investigation in line with the requirements of justice.

Both the complainant, the student and the accused faculty member, along with committee members, have been informed in writing about the decision.

The spokesperson further said that without mutual trust, the process of justice becomes difficult, therefore the case had been handed over to the relevant forum for impartial inquiry. The accused teacher has also been placed on leave pending the outcome of the proceedings.
