Parliamentary Secretary Saba Sadiq Condenms Balochistan 'Honour' Killing Incident, Vows Justice For Slain Couple

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jul, 2025) Parliamentary Secretary for Human Rights, Saba Sadiq, has strongly condemned the brutal murder of a couple in Dagari, Balochistan, in what has widely been denounced as an “honour” killing.
“This inhumane and cold-blooded act is not only a blatant violation of fundamental human rights but a grave assault on the values of justice, dignity, and the rule of law,” Saba Sadiq said in a press statement on Monday.
“Filming and circulating such brutality to instill fear reflects an alarming level of impunity and must be dealt with utmost urgency.”
Saba Sadiq reiterated that no tribal code or social custom can override the Constitution of Pakistan, which guarantees every citizen—especially women—the right to life, liberty, and free choice in marriage.
“The perpetrators must face the full force of the law. I urge the provincial authorities to ensure that no political or tribal influence obstructs the course of justice.
This incident is a stain on our conscience and a test of our resolve to eradicate gender-based violence.”
She welcomed the arrest of 11 suspects and the transfer of the case to the Serious Crime Investigation Wing (SCIW), calling it “a step in the right direction.” However, she stressed the need for continued transparency and accountability at every stage of the investigation and prosecution.
“The Ministry of Human Rights stands ready to extend all necessary support to ensure justice for the victims and their families. We will not allow this to be just another statistic. It must become a turning point in our fight against so-called ‘honour’ killings,” she added.
Saba Sadiq also called for expedited legislative and judicial reforms to dismantle the parallel justice systems operating under the guise of tribal or feudal traditions. “We must draw a clear line between tradition and tyranny. There can be no honour in murder.”
