Speculations have been circulating on social media suggesting that tensions between Imad Wasim and his wife, Saniya Ashfaq, are due to cricketer’s alleged involvement with Nayla
LONDON/KARACHI: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-July 21st, 2025) Social media influencer Nayla Raja has firmly denied rumours of an alleged affair with Pakistani cricketer Imad Wasim, which recently sparked controversy online.
The speculations had been circulating on social media suggesting that tensions between Imad Wasim and his wife, Saniya Ashfaq, were due to the cricketer’s alleged involvement with Nayla. A video shared online showed Imad walking with a woman in London, with many users claiming the woman was Nayla Raja. The clip triggered a wave of criticism, with social media users accusing Imad of cheating on his pregnant wife and calling his behaviour "shameful."
While Imad has remained silent, Nayla addressed the controversy through a detailed statement on Instagram. She stated that the situation had escalated beyond reason and compelled her to respond.
Clarifying the video, Nayla said it was she herself who had originally shared it on her Instagram, and there was nothing secretive about it. She questioned how a simple Instagram story could be blamed for someone’s divorce.
“In our society, honour is always linked to women, while no one considers that women too have dignity and respect,” she remarked.
Nayla criticised the societal tendency to judge others without context, solely to assert moral superiority. She warned that such attitudes fuel dangerous practices like honour killings and gender-based violence.
Explaining further, Nayla said the video in question was taken outside an eyewear store in London, and the person who filmed it intentionally focused from an angle that ignored other people present at the scene.
While acknowledging that public figures are subject to criticism, Nayla appealed not to be dragged into baseless controversies. She also expressed anger that her brother had received threatening messages, asking him to “control his sister.” She rejected such attitudes, saying she is a self-made woman who built her life with dignity, hard work, and self-respect.
It is not the first time Imad Wasim has faced such allegations. In the past, he was also linked to an Afghan woman, and photos of the two had gone viral.
