Reforms initiatives decreases number of ghost schools

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th August, 2016) : Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly's Standing Committee on Elementary and Secondary Education Department was Tuesday informed that owing to reforms initiatives of the provincial government, numbers of ghost schools have been reduced significantly during the last three years. The committee meeting which held at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House Abbottabad Tuesday under the chair of Muhammad Arif was told that large number of government schools have not only been brought to limelight, but those in deteriorated condition are being fully rehabilitated and provided with all required modern educational and sports facilities. The meeting among others was attended by MPAs Shah Hussain, Raja Faisal Zaman, Amna Sardar, Director Elementary Education, Education officers of Hazara Division. Participants of the meeting discussed in detail issue of ghost and closed schools in Hazara Division and decided to approach Federal government for their rehabilitation.

However, the committee directed the concerned officers to take all out efforts for smooth running of the ghost schools which have been made functional and ensure attendance of the teachers and students therein as well. It was disclosed that provincial government would recruit 15445 permanent teachers to overcome shortage of teachers in government schools, but for time being services of teachers would be hired on daily wages basis.

The committee urged the education department to take over newly constructed school buildings and take necessary measures for providing staff and other facilities in them. The meeting expressed its satisfaction over the fact that biometric system introduced in government schools proved helpful not only for identifying ghost schools but also in ensuring attendance of teachers.
