
Secretary Environment Reviews Anti Dengue Campaign

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th August, 2016) :Secretary Environment Punjab Iqbal Muhammad Chohan Friday said that strict action would be taken against those showing negligence in the anti-dengue campaign. Visiting different localities of the city and cantonment, larvae was found from water stored in the under construction building near Chairing Cross, on Peshawar Road, he issued directives for registering a FIR against the building owner and warned that stern action would be taken against all those not complying on instructions to prevent dengue.
He said indoor dengue larvae surveillance should be given priority and all junkyards, nurseries, under construction buildings and tyre shops should also be examined thoroughly. He also visited flowers and plants nurseries along Peshawar Road and directed to keep un-used flower pots empty of water so that dengue larvae could not flourish.
The Secretary also visited the office of District Officer Environment and reviewed anti dengue activities.
He was informed that four officers, four inspectors and three field assistants had been appointed in Rawalpindi besides provision of five more vehicles to strengthen the human resource and logistic support.
The officers briefed the secretary that junkyards of 34 truck loads had been confiscated from different areas of the district which had not adhered to instructions of government for dengue prevention.
Earlier, the Secretary in a meeting discussed dengue control measures being adopted in Rawalpindi. Commissioner Rawalpindi Azmat Mahmood shared the salient features of the anti-dengue drive.
