KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Jul, 2025) Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori on Thursday said that institutions like Sindh Madressatul islam University (SMIU) serve as the backbone in fulfilling the mission of national development.
Speaking as the chief guest at the university’s 6th convocation, Governor Tessori expressed his pleasure that SMIU has entered a new era of academic maturity by awarding its first-ever PhD degree.
He said, “PhD is not just about research, it is about challenging boundaries, thinking deeply, and adding something new to the world. Today’s milestone is a testament to the university’s progress not just in numbers, but in knowledge, seriousness, and reputation.”
Governor Tessori congratulated the graduating students and acknowledged the dedication of faculty and the sacrifices of parents. He paid tribute to the teachers who guided students with sincerity and knowledge, and also praised parents for their enduring support.
He remarked that institutions like SMIU are not just educational bodies, but chapters of our national heritage. “This university is the same historic institution that educated the great leader, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah,” he noted.
Highlighting the importance of modern education and research, Governor Sindh stated, “To put Pakistan on the path of progress, we must embrace education, innovation, and research. Quaid-e-Azam gave us an ideal Pakistan, and Allama Iqbal dreamed of it now it is the responsibility of our youth to build it.”
He urged the students to develop a sense of responsibility and never to lose hope. “You can become whatever you want to be. This country has given us our identity it is our duty to strengthen its economy and stability.”
