ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Aug, 2026) Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry on Friday said that, on the instructions of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, he handed over compensation cheques of Rs five million each to the parents of children who lost their lives in the PIMS tragedy.
In a statement on X, he said that on the directives of the prime minister, he visited the homes of the bereaved families and handed over the cheques.
“This compensation can in no way be considered a price for the irreparable loss suffered by the parents,” he said.
He said the financial assistance was a humble effort by the government to express solidarity with the grieving families.
Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said the grief of losing a child could neither be expressed in words nor could such a loss ever be compensated.
He said the pain of losing a child remained with parents throughout their lives, adding that the pain caused by the loss of innocent children in the PIMS tragedy could not be eased in any way.
“These innocent children were the hope and bright future of their parents, and their loss is an irreparable tragedy,” Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said.
He reiterated that anyone found responsible for negligence in the PIMS tragedy would be given exemplary punishment.
“May Allah Almighty protect us all from such trials and tragedies,” he said.
