
Two Brothers Arrested By NAB For Involvement In Corruption

SUKKUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Augst,2016) : National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Sukkur has arrested Ghulam Abbas Shaikh, Purchase Officer, Larkana Municipal Corporation (LMC) and his brother Abdul Sattar Shaikh, Junior Clerk at LMC. On the basis of a complaint against Ghulam Abbas Shaikh, Purchase officer LMC & others, the NAB Sukkur initiated inquiry on the allegations of misappropriation/embezzlement of funds of millions of rupees.
Ghulam Abbas Shaikh opened a company in the name of M/s Arslan contractors in 2009 and with the help of other officials of TMA Larkana got transferred millions of rupees of LMC funds into his company accounts in the garb of supply and installation of electrical materials and other purchases.
Abdul Sattar Shaikh, clerk at LMC (Brother of accused Ghulam Abbas Shaikh) also opened a separate company as M/s KK Contractors in 2012.
Both the govt. officials participated in the bid as contractors and obtained work orders for the supply of electrical and other materials. During inquiry, it has been established that neither electrical material and other purchases were made nor supplied/installed.
However through fake billings, accused Ghulam Abbas Shaikh and Abdul Sattar Shaikh and others embezzled LMC funds amounting to more than Rs. 125 Million during the period and caused loss to the national exchequer.
