32 Matches Decided On Day Three Of BB Shaheed Int'l Tourney

ISLAMABAD, Dec 6 (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 06th Dec, 2016 ) : Thirty two matches were decided on Tuesday, the third day of Second Benazir Bhutto (Shaheed) International Tennis Tournament at Islamabad Tennis Complex, G-5 Islamabad.

The best encounter of the day was held between the sixth seed Mudassar Murtaza and Usman Rafique in Men's Singles category. Usman Rafiq won the first set by breaking sixth game of Mudassar Murtraza and built up the winning lead 1-0.

In the second set Mudassar came back strongly, winning it at 6-2 by breaking third and fifth game of Usman Rafique. The scored was leveled one set all. In the final set the score went up to 3-3all as both players held their own serves.

However, at this stage Mudassar Murtaza took a medial time out due ankle twist during the sixth game. He recovered from the injury and took the set by breaking fifth game of Usman. The match lasted for two hours and five minutes.

Another thrilling contest of the day in the Men's Singles was held between upcoming junior Asadullah from Peshawar and Shahid Afridi. Asadullah won the match at 1-6 6-3 6-2. Apsara Sheeraz from Karachi made the major upset by eliminating eighth seed Eshal Khan in the Ladies Singles first round match.

Apsara won the match 6-3 6-4.
