Hyderabad Kingsmen edge Islamabad United by 2 runs to reach HBL PSL 11 final

Chasing 187, Islamabad United fell short despite a late fightback, finishing just two runs behind the target

LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-May 1st, 2026) Hyderabad Kingsmen secured a dramatic two-run victory over Islamabad United in Eliminator 2 of HBL Pakistan Super League Season 11 at Gaddafi Stadium on Friday, booking their place in the final.
Chasing 187, Islamabad United fell short despite a late fightback, finishing just two runs behind the target.

The defeat ended the campaign of the three-time champions.

United’s innings began on a poor note as they lost two early wickets inside the first three overs with only 15 runs on the board.

The early setbacks put pressure on the chase from the outset.

Captain Shadab Khan attempted to stabilize the innings alongside Devon Conway, adding 42 runs for the second wicket. Conway scored 30 off 25 balls before being dismissed in the eighth over.
Shadab Khan followed soon after, scoring 22 off 24 deliveries, leaving United struggling in the middle overs.

A key recovery came through a 64-run partnership between Haider Ali and Darcy Short, with Haider scoring a brisk 31 off 16 balls.

Darcy Short then lifted hopes with a quick 43 off 26 deliveries, but his dismissal in the 18th over proved decisive.

Despite a late surge from Faheem Ashraf and Chris Green, who struck 22 runs in the penultimate over, United could not complete the chase.

Needing six runs off the final over, Hunain Shah bowled a composed last over, conceding only three runs to seal victory for Kingsmen.
Earlier, Hyderabad Kingsmen posted 186/5 after being put into bat.

Their innings suffered an early blow when Maaz Sadaqat was dismissed for a duck.

Saim Ayub and Marnus Labuschagne rebuilt the innings with a 70-run stand before Saim was dismissed for 38.

Labuschagne contributed 40 runs before his departure.

The match-defining performance came from Usman Khan and Kusal Perera, who added 101 runs for the fifth wicket. Usman remained unbeaten on 61 off 30 balls, while Perera scored 37 off 21 deliveries.
For Islamabad United, Imad Wasim was the most effective bowler with two wickets for 16 runs, while others shared the remaining wickets.
Hyderabad Kingsmen will now face Peshawar Zalmi in the final on Sunday.
