DHAKA: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-July 21st, 2025) A Bangladesh Air Force training fighter jet (F-7 BGI) crashed into the campus of Milestone school and College, killing at least 19 people and injuring more than 50, most of them students.
According to international news agencies, the tragic incident occurred while students were in the middle of an examination. The crash caused immediate panic and chaos on the campus, with thick plumes of smoke rising into the sky.
The videos circulating on social media showed horrifying scenes of screaming and terrified children clinging to each other, while frantic parents searched for their missing children. The impact caused parts of the aircraft to rip through iron grills and reach deep inside the building, which quickly caught fire.
The spokesperson for the Bangladesh military confirmed that the aircraft belonged to the Bangladesh Air Force, but no further official statement has been released, and detailed information about the crash is yet to be disclosed.
The firefighters and military personnel quickly arrived at the scene to control the blaze, while rescue teams worked tirelessly to transport the injured to hospitals. The head of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery confirmed that dozens of children and adults were brought in with severe burn injuries.
The devastating tragedy has plunged the entire country into mourning, with schools, parents, and students in deep grief. Rescue agencies have appealed to the public to donate blood and contribute to relief efforts for the injured.
Just a month ago, a similar incident occurred in India where a plane crashed into a medical college, killing more than 260 people.
