
British Council, Punjab Special Education Dept Sign Agreement For Special Learning

Special Assistant for Special Education Sania Ashiq briefed British Council Country Director James Hampson on the initiatives of the Punjab government
LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-July 29th, 2025) Under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a significant milestone has been achieved in the field of education for special children.
For the first time in Punjab’s history, an international collaboration in special education has been established through an agreement between the British Council and the Punjab Special Education Department.
A formal signing ceremony was held for the agreement, where Special Assistant for Special Education Sania Ashiq briefed British Council Country Director James Hampson on the initiatives of the Punjab government. The British Council pledged technical assistance in the field of special education.
During the ceremony, Awards of Excellence were also presented to the heads of outstanding schools under the school Connect Program.
Sania Ashiq emphasized that education and training for special children is a top priority for the Punjab government. She highlighted the importance of international teacher training exchange programs, particularly drawing from the UK’s experience in autism and inclusive education. She stated that providing every child with education, healthcare, and a life of dignity is the mission of CM Maryam Nawaz.
British Council Country Director James Hampson reaffirmed their strong commitment to supporting Punjab in paving a new path for empowering special children.
