HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Jul, 2025) A follow-up meeting regarding hazardous buildings in Hyderabad district was held on Monday under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner Zain-ul-Abideen Memon. The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioners of all four talukas, Deputy Directors of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), and municipal officials.
During the meeting, SBCA officials presented a new survey report, revealing that 71 additional buildings across various parts of the district had been declared dangerous. According to the report, 38 buildings in latifabad, 28 in taluka city and 5 in taluka rural were identified as structurally unsafe. This is in addition to the 74 buildings that had already been marked as hazardous in previous surveys.
SBCA officials informed the meeting that residents living in previously declared dangerous buildings had been issued evacuation notices, and police assistance will soon be sought to help vacate these buildings.
Addressing the officials, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of taking the issue seriously. He stated that protecting citizens’ lives was the top priority, and any negligence or leniency in this regard would not be tolerated. He also warned that some individuals have been seen tearing down legal notices posted on buildings, which was a violation of the law, legal action would be taken against such persons.
The Deputy Commissioner directed Assistant Commissioners to visit the field themselves to assess the situation and maintain close coordination with the SBCA. He emphasized that while the demolition of dangerous buildings was the responsibility of the Building Control Authority, the district administration will closely monitor the entire process. He added that we had to act strictly because people were being careless about the safety of their own lives.
