
8000 Farmers Trained To Control Losses In Cotton Crops: Mintex

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22th August, 2016) : The agricultural scientists and experts have trained 8000 farmers across the country in the field of controlling the losses of cotton crops and evolve measure against the Pin ball virus harmed the cotton crops in past. This year farmers to get good prices for cotton crops as in international market, the prices of the commodity has increased which would pay back to the farmer as compare to previous years who suffered a huge financial losses, a top official of Ministry of Textile Industry told APP here on Monday.
He said the government was determined to facilitate textile industry to enhance trade volume for economic stability and growth. He said "we believe on consultation process to take all satkeholders on board to evolve consensus on coming textile policy." He said the government is also focussing on enhancing the capacity of Karachi, Lahore and Faisalabad garments cities. He added that these garments cities would promote regional and global trade and also enhance revenue for economic development.
He stressed the need to modernize the industrial tools and equip the manpower of local industries with innovated skills and technology. The preliminary meeting of International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) would be held here from October 30, in which the stakeholders would discuss the challenges being faced by the textile sector. Delegations comprising government, private sector officials and scientists from 47 cotton producing countries would participate in the five-day long meeting,he said. To a question, he said that shortage of skilled manpower and practicing old methods in textile industry was main barrier to achieve targets and enhance trade volume at international markets. He urged the local industrialists to invest and train the manpower with modern instruments and use of information technology to compete with international investors and get more production. He said that the up-gradation of old textile infrastructure is the top priority of government to adopt the modern industrial techniques for more industrial production in the country.
