KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Jul, 2025) The Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) of Karachi Police has made significant progress in its ongoing crackdown against car and motorcycle theft, arresting 14 suspected criminals involved in vehicle lifting from various parts of the city.
SSP AVLC Amjad Ahmed Sheikh on Monday said in a series of targeted operations conducted across different divisions, AVLC teams successfully apprehended the suspects and recovered several stolen motorcycles and vehicles. The arrests were made in Lyari, Keamari, City, Baldia, Orangi Town, Shah Faisal, and Gulshan divisions.
Among the arrested were repeat offenders and members of organized theft rings. In Lyari, two individuals were taken into custody with a stolen motorcycle linked to a case registered at Jamshed Quarters police station. Similarly, in Keamari, two suspects were caught with another stolen two-wheeler connected to a Napier police station FIR.
In City Division, a suspect was apprehended for stealing a car earlier this month from the Preedy area.
Baldia Division saw the arrest of three culprits involved in separate thefts, leading to the recovery of two motorcycles reported stolen from Ittehad Town and Keamari.
A major breakthrough was achieved in Orangi Town, where AVLC officials dismantled a three-member gang involved in numerous vehicle thefts. One of the suspects, identified as Furqan Ahmed Abbasi, is a known offender with a criminal record related to vehicle theft and possession of illegal arms. The operation resulted in the seizure of a stolen motorcycle, counterfeit number plates, and weapons.
In Shah Faisal Division, two more suspects were caught with motorcycles stolen from Gulistan-e-Johar and Saudabad areas. Meanwhile, the Gulshan Division team apprehended an individual in possession of a bike stolen from Gulshan-e-Iqbal earlier this year.
All suspects are currently under investigation, and officials anticipate further revelations and recoveries in the coming days as interrogation continues.
