LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) A Punjab Police constable was martyred after being shot by armed suspects during a reconnaissance operation in Gujrat on Thursday, a police spokesperson said.
According to details, the suspects opened fire, leaving Constable Fayyaz critically injured. He was shifted to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The spokesperson said that the martyred official was serving in the Crime Control Department (CCD) Gujrat.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Kareem paid rich tribute to the sacrifice of Constable Fayyaz Hussain and expressed condolences with the bereaved family.
The IGP directed that full welfare support be provided to the family of the martyred official, terming their care a top priority.
He also ordered the immediate arrest of the suspects involved in the incident and directed police to utilize all available resources to bring them to justice, the spokesperson added.
