Commissioner Reviews Wheat Procurement Arrangements

BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) A review meeting of the Divisional Strategic Reserve Management Committee was held at the Commissioner’s Office Bahawalpur under the chairmanship of Irfan Ali Kathia to assess arrangements for the 2026-27 wheat procurement campaign, issues faced by flour mill owners, and the performance of the food Department.
Deputy Commissioner Syed Hassan Raza attended the meeting in person, while the Deputy Commissioners of Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan participated via video link. The meeting was also attended by the Director Agriculture (Extension), Deputy Director Food, District Food Controllers, representatives of the Punjab Land Records Authority, banking officials, and office-bearers of the Flour Mills Association.
Addressing the meeting, Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia stated that the Divisional Strategic Reserve Management Committee is responsible for overseeing wheat procurement, monitoring operations, ensuring inter-departmental coordination, and maintaining law and order during the campaign.
He directed all relevant departments to work in close coordination and adopt an effective strategy to ensure complete harmony among farmers, flour mills, banks, and government institutions so that the wheat procurement drive can be completed successfully.
The Commissioner emphasized that, in accordance with the directives of the Punjab government, wheat procurement will be conducted in a transparent, fair, and timely manner. Wheat will be purchased from approved farmers according to the allocated quota, and no irregularities or favoritism will be tolerated.
