ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jul, 2025) Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, remarked on Saturday that the implementation of electronic voting machines (EVMs) in elections hinges on securing broad-based consensus among all political parties and parliament members, stressing that without consensus the process cannot move forward.
In an exclusive conversation with a local news channel, the minister said that there should be no rush and emphasized the need to observe the results carefully, adding that he said it is important to see how much the public and all political parties trust the process.
He further explained that in the past, efforts were made to develop consensus on this issue in the country, but they were not successful.
He added that this new experiment may give rise to new controversies, which makes it essential for everyone to come together and build consensus.
"It is important for all parliamentarians present in the Parliament to be on the same page on this issue", he stressed.
Replying to a query, he affirmed that PML-N believes in democracy and will pursue a balanced and thoughtful
strategy.
