
UE Hosts Summer Workshop On Corpus Linguistics,AI And Freelancing Empowerment

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jul, 2025) University of Education (UE),Lahore on Saturday successfully hosted the first-ever interdisciplinary summer workshop combining Corpus Linguistics,Generative Artificial Intelligence and Freelancing Empowerment.
Organized by the Department of English,the Summer Workshop 2025 set a new precedent in the country’s higher education landscape by bridging cutting-edge research,technology and professional skill development in a single platform.
Organized in collaboration with the University of Queensland,Australia,the workshop featured a live interactive session with internationally renowned linguist Dr.Peter Crosthwaite.
During his address,Dr.Crosthwaite provided valuable academic resources,issued digital certificates to participants, and praised the workshop for its academic rigor and innovative approach.
A standout feature of the workshop was the exclusive,free three-month access to Sketch Engine (UK),a leading corpus analysis tool,facilitated through the efforts of Dr. Urooj Fatima Alvi,a faculty member at UE. More than 50 participants benefited from this unique learning opportunity.
The workshop also featured impactful sessions on AI-based research writing, conducted by Dr.
Jahanzeb Jahan, and hands-on training in PRAAT software by Ms.Shifa Azam,an MPhil English scholar.
These sessions offered participants practical skills and insights into the evolving academic and professional landscape.
Participants included scholars and researchers from leading institutions such as COMSATS,FAST,Punjab University and others,reflecting strong national academic engagement and interest in interdisciplinary innovation.
The closing ceremony took place at the University of Education’s Main Campus in Township,Lahore,where Vice Chancellor(VC) Prof. Dr.Aqif Anwar Chaudhry distributed certificates among the participants.
In his address, the VC said that this workshop was not only a gateway to promoting modern trends in research and pedagogy but also marks the beginning of a new chapter in Pakistan’s academic journey.
UE was committed to innovation and international collaboration and this initiative stands as a testament to that vision.
He added that the university will continue to host such collaborative academic ventures in the future, strengthening global academic partnerships and fostering excellence in education.
