Gov’t Prioritizing Education, Agricultural Reforms Under ‘Uraan Pakistan’: Ahsan Iqbal

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jul, 2025) Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, on Sunday said that the government is committed to driving national progress through educational reform and agricultural development under the ‘Uraan Pakistan’ program.

Talking to a private news channel, he said the top priority is the promotion and modernization of the education sector, which is vital for the country’s economic development and long-term prosperity.

“We are working closely with provinces to reform the curriculum, introduce modern teacher training, and overhaul the examination system,” he added.

He emphasized that after the 18th Amendment, development can only be effective when powers are further devolved to the grassroots level through strong local governments.

Addressing challenges in the agriculture sector, Ahsan Iqbal noted that climate change is having adverse effects on crop yields.

He said the government is actively responding to these challenges and has begun implementing structural reforms to strengthen the sector.

The minister reaffirmed that the government’s approach is based on long-term planning, inclusive collaboration with provinces, and a focus on sustainable solutions for key sectors.
