LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jul, 2025) An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday granted a seven-day physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Hammad Ali Awan in a case related to the
attack on police officials during the Zaman Park operation.
The police presented Awan before the ATC Judge Manzer Ali Gill following the completion
of his identification parade. The investigating officer informed the court that the suspect had
been identified during the parade and requested his physical remand for the recovery
of sticks allegedly used in the incident and for further investigation.
However, the defence counsel argued that Hammad Ali Awan, a practicing lawyer and PTI’s former
candidate from PP-151 (Manawan), was arrested after a gap of two-and-a-half years. He requested
the court to discharge him from the case.
The court approved the remand and directed the police to produce the accused again on July 31.
Awan was arrested in connection with FIR No 410/23 registered at the Race Course Police Station.
It was alleged that the PTI leader was actively involved in arson and violence at Zaman Park
during which multiple police personnel were injured.
