
Health Minister Inspects Mayo Hospital, Stresses Zero Tolerance For Negligence

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jul, 2025) Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique conducted a surprise visit to Mayo Hospital on Friday, and made it clear that negligence in patient treatment would not be tolerated.
During the visit, he reviewed the Outpatient Department (OPD), pharmacy, and other facilities, while interacting with patients to gather feedback on medical services.
The minister highlighted the Punjab government's commitment to improving healthcare, stating that new hospitals are being constructed to address the increasing patient load. "Following the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, we are working to enhance patient facilities and ensure a steady supply of medicines in hospitals," he said.
Khawaja Salman issued directives to improve the queue management and token number systems at Mayo Hospital. He also ordered an increase in seating arrangements for patient convenience and the full activation of air conditioners. During the visit, he issued a show-cause notice to a Postgraduate Resident (PGR) for using a mobile phone in the emergency department.
The minister inspected the Ghari Ward Surgical Tower and met with patients to assess their care. CEO Mayo Hospital Professor Haroon Hamid and Medical Superintendent Dr. Abdul Madabar accompanied the minister during the visit.
