During a visit to the library located in Company Bagh here on Sunday, the commissioner emphasized the importance of aligning the library with modern needs while preserving its historical identity.

He stressed the need for consultations with students, citizens, literary figures, and youth to ensure an inclusive and community-driven approach.

Jahanzaib Awan also instructed that a public opinion survey be conducted through social media, and recommendations be collected at the institutional level. Accompanied by Professor Habib ur Rehman from the University of Sargodha’s History Department, Chief Officer MC Majid bin Ahmad, and Municipal Officer Zoya Baloch, the Commissioner was briefed on the library’s origins and current condition.

The briefing revealed that the library was founded in 1908 by a scholar named Rudkin, who donated 150 books to initiate the “Public Library.

The Commissioner also emphasized consultation with all public and private educational institutions, including the University of Sargodha, to transform the library into a vibrant hub for academic and research activities.
