Governor KP Attends Farewell In Honor Of Austrian Ambassador Wicke

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jul, 2025) Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Sunday attended a farewell lunch held in honor of the outgoing Austrian Ambassador to Pakistan, Andrea Wicke here on Sunday.

The event, organized by Qaiser Nawab and Sardar Waqar Shahzad, brought together members of the diplomatic corps, senior media professionals, and other distinguished guests.

Speaking on the occasion, Qaiser Nawab praised Ambassador Wicke as a strong advocate for women’s empowerment and a role model for youth in Pakistan.

He acknowledged Austria’s constructive role in international diplomacy and shared his reflections on his visits to Salzburg and Vienna, drawing a cultural connection with Pakistan’s own scenic Swat Valley.

He extended an open invitation to the Ambassador to explore the region.

Sardar Waqar Shahzad highlighted the Ambassador’s efforts in fostering bilateral relations between Pakistan and Austria.

He commended her contributions in enhancing mutual cooperation and expressed hope that she would return to Pakistan in the future, especially to visit Swat.

The lunch was attended by several high-profile dignitaries, including Wada Mitsuhiro, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, Dr.

Emmanuel R. Fernandez, Ambassador of the Philippines, Dr. Zuhair Zaid, Ambassador of Palestine, Diplomats from the U.S. Embassy, former Federal ministers, and senior journalists.

In her farewell remarks, Ambassador Andrea Wicke expressed deep appreciation for the hospitality she received during her tenure.

She recalled her visits to various cities, including Peshawar, and said the city’s vibrant culture and warmth had left a lasting impression on her.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi extended best wishes to Ambassador Wicke in her future diplomatic assignments.

He also thanked her for recognizing the rich heritage and hospitality of Peshawar.
