ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Jul, 2025) A crucial meeting on tourism was held under the chairmanship of Advisor to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah here on Wednesday, which focused on reviewing the National Tourism Policy.
The meeting, which also saw the participation of Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, National Coordinator for Tourism to the Prime Minister, said a statement.
The meeting was attended by officials, including Federal Secretary for Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC), Mohyuddin Wani, and Managing Director Green Tourism Lt. Gen (R) Sardar Hassan Azhar Hayat.
In the meeting, Rana Sanaullah, who also hold the portfolio of IPC Ministry, directed all stakeholders to work together on the framework of the National Tourism Policy, emphasizing that the Prime Minister is keen to promote tourism in Pakistan.
He said that the provinces will cooperate with the federal government in implementing the National Tourism Policy.
Sanaullah also directed stakeholders to complete work on the National Tourism Policy within two weeks.
He cited examples of cities like Istanbul and Baku, which have made significant progress in tourism, and stated that Pakistan will also promote tourism to global standards. He assured full support and assistance in all legislative work related to tourism.
Meanwhile, Sardar Yasir highlighted that tourism-related matters are currently scattered across various departments, and work is being done to bring these under a unified framework.
He announced that the initial focus will be on religious, medical, agricultural, and adventure tourism. He was of the view that a central department will be established to implement the National Tourism Policy, making it easier to execute the policy.
Additionally, he announced that a National Tourism and Investment Expo will be held in September under the auspices of the IPC Ministry, which will play a key role in promoting tourism and investment in the country.
The Secretary IPC emphasized that institutional and regulatory reforms are essential to boost tourism in Pakistan.
