Security forces foil infiltration attempt at Pak-Afghan border, arrest five suspected suicide bombers

Sources say incident took place on evening of July 17, when a group of militants, identified as members of a banned militant outfit, attempted to cross into Pakistani territory around 5:00pm

ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-July 18th 2025) Security forces successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt by militants from across the Pak-Afghan border and arrested five alleged suicide bombers on Wednesday, security sources confirmed.

The sources said that the incident took place on the evening of July 17, when a group of militants, identified as members of a banned militant outfit, attempted to cross into Pakistani territory around 5:00pm. Acting on timely intelligence, security forces swiftly established blockades at five different locations along the border.

At approximately 6:25 pm the militants crossed into Pakistani territory and began moving toward the Aziz Khail and Mandi Khail areas. However, encountering a strong security presence, the infiltrators took refuge inside a mosque located in the Besi Khail area.

Security forces immediately cordoned off the mosque and launched a containment operation. Owing to a well-devised strategy and tactical pressure, the militants surrendered without any exchange of fire.

The arrested suspects are Afghan nationals, and security officials revealed that three of them were in possession of Afghan identification cards.

The detainees, whose ages range between 15 and 18 years, have been moved to an undisclosed location for further interrogation .

The security forces said the swift response prevented a possible terror attack and underscored the importance of border vigilance in maintaining national security. Further investigations are underway.
