PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Jul, 2025) Following directives from the Peshawar High Court (PHC), authorities have begun implementing measures to improve the condition of the Indus Highway and submitted a detailed progress report to the court.
The action comes in response to a petition highlighting traffic management and security on the highway.
According to the submitted report on Monday, prior to the court's order, only two mobile traffic vans and seven highway traffic police officers were deployed in Kohat and Karak regions on Indus Highway.
To address the issue, the number of traffic personnel in Kohat is being increased to 28. The deployment plan includes 16 officers stationed at the Kohat Tunnel and Darra Adam Khel Bazaar, while four officers each will be posted at the Kohat board and Lachi Bazaar areas.
In Karak, 12 officials have been assigned for traffic control. Additionally, the number of highway traffic units in both Kohat and Karak has been increased to three, with a total of 20 officials designated for duty.
To further enhance security and traffic control, official letters have been sent to the Inspector General of Police and relevant authorities. As a result, more than 130 police officers will now be deployed at various points along the Indus Highway to ensure safety and improved traffic flow.
