CEO Moonis Alvi has been ordered to deposit the fine within one month

KARACHI: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-July 31st, 2025) The Sindh Ombudsman on Thursday directed the immediate removal of K-Electric Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Moonis Alvi from his position and imposed a fine of Rs2.5 million after finding him guilty of harassing a female complainant.

The verdict was issued by Justice (retd.) Shahnawaz Tariq, the Provincial Ombudsman of Sindh, who stated that the harassment allegations against Alvi had been proven during the inquiry.

The CEO has been ordered to deposit the fine within one month.

In his ruling, Justice Tariq noted that Moonis Alvi not only harassed the complainant but also caused her mental anguish.

The decision further warned that if the penalty is not paid within the stipulated time, Alvi’s movable and immovable assets will be confiscated.

The Ombudsman also directed that in case of continued non-compliance, Alvi’s national identity card and passport should be blocked.

The case was initiated following a formal complaint filed by a former K-Electric executive, who accused the CEO of workplace harassment.

The verdict marks a significant development in efforts to enforce accountability and professional conduct within the corporate sector.
