LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st Jul, 2025) The Lahore Police have intensified their crackdown on illegal weapons and aerial firing, arresting over 5,371 suspects during 2025.
A police spokesperson said on Thursday that so far, 5,343 First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered against the suspects. Furthermore, 682 individuals have been detained in connection with aerial firing incidents, resulting in 548 cases filed across various police stations in the city.
Police seized 36 Kalashnikovs, 277 rifles, 204 shotguns, 4,734 pistols and more than 24,000 rounds of ammunition from them.
Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana reaffirmed the department’s zero-tolerance policy towards illegal weapons, public display of arms and aerial firing. He directed police officials to maintain strict vigilance over illegal arms trade and take swift action against any individuals or groups spreading fear or involved in ‘dala culture’.
The CCPO also warned that promoting weapons or aerial firing on social media platforms would result in stringent legal consequences.
