LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Jul, 2025) The timely response of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority’s (PSCA) virtual blood bank saved the lives of newborn twin babies at Services Hospital, Lahore, on Monday.
According to a spokesperson for the Authority, a citizen contacted the emergency helpline 15, seeking immediate blood donations for his newborns. The virtual blood bank officer promptly located a matching donor and facilitated direct contact between the donor and the family. The donor reached the hospital within the required time and donated blood, for which the parents expressed deep gratitude.
In appreciation, they also registered themselves as blood donors with the bank.
The spokesperson said that the virtual blood bank receives 250 to 300 requests daily from citizens across the province seeking urgent blood assistance. To date, over 10,000 police officials and 30,000 citizens have been registered as blood donors in the Safe Cities database, contributing to the service’s growing efficiency, added spokesperson.
The spokesperson urged citizens to come forward and donate blood, emphasising that their contributions can help save countless lives.
