Traffic Plan Issued For Pakistan-South Africa Cricket Matches In Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Oct, 2025) The Rawalpindi Traffic Police on Thursday issued a comprehensive traffic management plan for the upcoming Pakistan–South Africa cricket matches to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and convenience of the public.

The two teams are scheduled to play the second Test at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from October 20 to 24.

According to City Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam, more than 367 traffic officers and wardens will be deployed during the matches to regulate traffic and maintain order on the roads surrounding the cricket stadium.

A special plan has been devised to manage traffic diversions and keep alternate routes operational. Additional personnel will also be stationed at the diversion points to guide motorists and ensure public convenience.

During the movement of the cricket teams, traffic will be diverted for the minimum possible time to avoid congestion. Traffic coming from Islamabad will be redirected from Faizabad towards the Islamabad Expressway, while vehicles travelling from Rawalpindi to Islamabad will be diverted from the 6th Road towards Saidpur Road.

The CTO said that the Stadium Road, from the 9th Avenue Chowk to Double Road, would remain completely closed to all vehicular traffic during the matches. Motorists coming from the 9th Avenue, Islamabad, could enter Rawalpindi via the Faizabad Expressway and IJP Road, while traffic heading towards Islamabad could use Faizabad as an alternative entry point.

For the convenience of cricket fans, parking facilities have been arranged at three locations — the Civil Aviation Ground, Shahbaz Sharif Park, and the Government Graduate College Satellite Town. A shuttle service will also be provided to transport spectators to the stadium.

Farhan Aslam said that information regarding traffic flow and road conditions would be continuously shared through the official social media pages and local radio stations of the Traffic Police.

He urged citizens to cooperate with the traffic wardens, saying that the smooth movement of vehicles during the matches depended equally on public cooperation. “The Rawalpindi Traffic Police are fully committed to ensuring uninterrupted traffic flow in all circumstances,” the CTO added.
