When, Why Dispute Erupted Between Actor Humaira Asghar Ali And Karachi Landlord?

Court verdict unveils many things about Actor Humaira and her rented flat in port city

KARACHI: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-July 23^rd, 2025) Pakistani actress Humaira Asghar Ali was found dead on July 8 in her flat located in Defence Phase 6, Karachi, amid an ongoing legal dispute with her landlord that had reportedly been active since 2019.

According to official documents, the rental agreement between Humaira Asghar Ali and the property owner was signed on December 20, 2018.

At the end of the contract period, the landlord requested that she vacate the premises.

However, a dispute arose when the actress allegedly failed to comply with the terms of the agreement, particularly the annual 10% rent increase clause.

The landlord claimed that Humaira Asghar Ali did not pay the increased rent and also failed to clear dues amounting to Rs40,000 from 2019 and 2020.

As a result, the first eviction notice was issued on June 3, 2021, followed by a second on June 17 of the same year.

Over time, the outstanding amount reportedly grew to Rs92,400 in 2021 and further escalated to Rs535,084 by 2024. Despite multiple court notices, Humaira Asghar Ali did not submit a response.

On September 21, 2023, the court ruled in favor of the landlord, and ordered Humaira to vacate the flat. The enforcement of the court's decision was scheduled for March 26, 2025.

Tragically, when the landlord arrived at the property on July 8 to execute the court’s order, Humaira Asghar Ali was found dead inside the flat. The investigations into the circumstances of her death are currently underway.
