Abbottabad Under-17 cricket team secured a strong position by gaining a 59-run lead against Rawalpindi on the opening day of the three-day final of National Under-17 Cricket Cup being played at Iqbal Stadium Faisalabad
FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th May, 2026) Abbottabad Under-17 cricket team secured a strong position by gaining a 59-run lead against Rawalpindi on the opening day of the three-day final of National Under-17 Cricket Cup being played at Iqbal Stadium Faisalabad.
According to match details, Rawalpindi won the toss and elected to bat first but failed to build substantial partnerships. However, all players were bowled out for 133 runs in their first innings.
Abbottabad’s bowler Ammar Khan played a key role in restricting the opposition by claiming four important wickets and putting Rawalpindi under pressure from the outset.
In reply, Abbottabad Under-17 displayed a confident batting performance and finished the first day at 192 runs for the loss of five wickets, taking an overall lead of 59 runs.
Muhammad Abu Zar anchored the innings with an unbeaten half-century and helped his team establish a commanding position in the final while Hammad Khan contributed a responsible knock of 57 runs to strengthen Abbottabad’s advantage.
The final match witnessed keen interest from cricket enthusiasts who gathered at the stadium to watch young cricketers talent in the prestigious national event.
With two days of play still remaining, Abbottabad appeared to hold the upper hand after a disciplined bowling performance and solid batting display on the first day of the final.
