Pakistan reached 32 without loss against South Africa in Rawalpindi; Asif Afridi made his Test debut at age 39.
RAWALPINDI: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Oct,20, 2025) Pakistan’s batting was underway in the first innings of the second and final Test against South Africa, with the team reaching 32 runs without losing a wicket.
The match is being played at the Rawalpindi cricket Stadium, where Pakistan captain Shan Masood won the toss and elected to bat first. Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq opened the innings for the hosts.
Captain Shan Masood said one change had been made to the playing XI — Asif Afridi was included in the team, while Hasan Ali was rested.
Asif Afridi made his Test debut for Pakistan, receiving his Test cap from Shaheen Afridi. The debut was particularly notable as Asif Afridi entered the Test arena at the age of 39 years and 299 days.
South Africa’s captain Aiden Markram said his side would also have chosen to bat first had they won the toss. The visitors made two changes for the Rawalpindi Test, bringing in Keshav Maharaj and Marco Jansen.
It is worth noting that Pakistan lead the two-match Test series 1-0, after defeating South Africa by 93 runs in the opening Test in Lahore.
