BEIJING, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jul, 2025) Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the creative sector, including expanding avenues for film funding and international promotion.
Talking to filmmaker Umair Nasir Ali, director of the internationally acclaimed film "Nayab" who called on him during his official visit to Beijing, he acknowledged the potential of cinema as a tool of soft power and national storytelling.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the growing global recognition of Pakistani cinema and the role of cultural diplomacy in shaping Pakistan’s international narrative, Umair Nasir Ali told APP.
Nayab recently won the Special Jury Award at the SCO Film Festival in Chongqing, China, adding to its impressive list of accolades from film festivals in Europe, North America, and South Asia.
The minister congratulated Umair Nasir Ali on the film’s success, calling it “A proud representation of Pakistan’s creative voice on the world stage.”
The two sides also spoke about the film’s central themes — resilience, national identity, and a quiet but profound sense of patriotism.
Umair Nasir Ali expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Information and the Directorate of Electronic Media and Publications (DEMP) for their continued support in promoting cinema that is both meaningful and globally relevant.
The meeting marked a moment of pride and encouragement for Pakistan’s creative community as the country continues to make its mark through art, film, and narrative storytelling across borders.
