Karach Customs seizes over Rs32 mln in smuggled goods

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Oct, 2025) In a major crackdown on illicit trade, the Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Karachi, in close coordination with the Sindh Rangers, seized smuggled goods worth over Rs32.6 million during a joint operation near Al-Asif Square, Sohrab Goth

Upon credible information received by the Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Karachi, a team from the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) and Pakistan Rangers Sindh conducted a major joint operation against the illicit trade of smuggled foreign-origin cigarettes, gutka, and other contraband goods, said a news release

The operation was carried out in shops-cum-godowns located adjacent to Al-Asif Square, Sohrab Goth, Karachi, resulting in the recovery of a large quantity of smuggled goods.

The seized items included 8,509 dandas of assorted brands of foreign-origin cigarettes, 1,829 packets of assorted brands of foreign-origin gutka, 327 packets of Indian-origin Niswar and 92 bottles of Iranian edible oil.

The total value of the seized goods has been estimated at approximately Rs.32,603,550.

Customs Enforcement reaffirms its firm resolve to curb the menace of smuggling and to protect the national economy by taking strict legal action against organized networks involved in illicit trade.

This successful operation stands as a testament to the effective coordination and cooperation between Customs Enforcement Karachi and Pakistan Rangers Sindh.
