NA body for revival of Pakistan Textile City Project, Karachi

ISLAMABAD, Dec 6 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 06th Dec, 2016 ) : The National Assembly Standing Committee on Textile Industry on Tuesday expressed its reservations over the closure of Pakistan Textile City Project, Karachi and observed that due to mismanagement and corruption the debt of textile city was exceeding to Rs 2.4 Billions.

The committee which met here under the chairmanship of MNA Khawaja Ghulam Rasool Koreja, also directed the ministry to sale out 250 acers of its land for payment of its outstanding debt and efforts should be made for making it operational by involving Chinese/Foreign companies for its betterment.

The Secretary, Ministry of Textile Industry presented the report on the performance of Plastic Technology Center (PTC) before the committee.

He was of the view that unfortunately the PTC was in terrible condition and needs to be focused.

The committee unanimously of the view that new campus of National Textile University should be established at PTC in order to make it profitable organization. MNAs, Sardar Muhammad Shafqat Hayat Khan, Rana Umer Nazir Khan, Haji Muhammad Akram Ansari, Malik Muhammad Uzair Khan, Ghulam Bibi Bharwana, Mian Shahid Hussain Khan Bhatti, Malik Shakir Bashir Awan, Abdul Rashid Godil, Asiya Nasir, Jamshaid Ahmad Dasti, Romina Khurshid Alam attended the meeting, besides officials of the ministry.
