Government reviews latest pricing summary and a formal announcement will be made after PM’s approval
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-July 14th, 2025) Amid a persistent increase in global crude oil prices, the prices of petrol and diesel in Pakistan are expected to rise by up to Rs6.50 per litre for the next 15-day review cycle, the sources said on Monday.
The sources said that the government is reviewing the latest pricing summary and a formal announcement will be made after approval from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
As per the working sent to the government by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), petrol prices may increase by Rs6.60 per litre while high-speed diesel could become costlier by Rs5.27 per litre. The price revision comes as a direct result of increased prices in the international oil market, which have raised import costs for petroleum products.
In contrast, a price reduction was proposed for some fuels.
Kerosene oil might become cheaper by Rs3.74 per litre, and light diesel oil could see a decrease of Rs2.23 per litre that reflected the adjustments based on changes in international benchmarks and domestic consumption patterns.
The oil industry already submitted its pricing data to OGRA, which is expected to forward its formal pricing recommendation to the government by tomorrow. The final decision would be made in light of OGRA’s summary and after the Prime Minister's consent.
If approved, the revised prices would take effect from July 16, 2025, and would remain in place for the following 15 days.
