HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th May, 2026) Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry President Muhammad Saleem Memon has urged federal government to provide relief to small traders and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the upcoming budget to save small businesses across the country to face a severe crisis.

While expressing his views on upcoming federal budget 2026-27 here Monday, Saleem Memon said that additional withholding taxes, complex tax system and anti-business policies had already created difficulties for traders and industrialists, while new financial constraints likey may further hamper business activities.

The Chamber President demanded the government to introduce a simplified tax system for SMEs in the Budget 2026-27, reduce withholding taxes and provide incentives to join the documentary economy instead of harassing traders.

He further demanded that businesses with a turnover of up to Rs.50 million for small traders be exempted from unnecessary inquiries and the strict conditions of Section 111 so that as many small traders can become part of the documentary economy without fear or doubt.

Speaking further on the budget proposals, Chamber President Saleem Memon said that the increasing industrial and commercial electricity tariffs and the continuous increase in the prices of petroleum products had put the survival of small traders and industries at risk.

The Chamber President demanded that a special electricity relief package be introduced for small and medium enterprises in the budget 2026-27, industrial tariffs be reduced and immediate steps be taken to stabilize the prices of petroleum products.

Saleem Memon demanded the government and the State Bank of Pakistan to introduce low-markup financing schemes for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), young entrepreneurs and cottage industries in the Budget 2026-27 to support local industries.

He added that due to high interest rates and expensive bank financing, small traders and industrialists were facing difficulty in continuing their business, while traditional industries of Hyderabad were declining due to government indifference.

The Chamber President demanded that special incentives, easy loans and export facilities be provided for handicrafts, bangle making, embroidery and other cottage industries in the Budget 2026-27 so that local industries can be reactivated and employment opportunities can be increased.
