Commissioner visits flood-hit areas in Mianwali

SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jul, 2025) Commissioner Jahanzaib Awan on Saturday visited flood-affected riverine (Kacha) areas of Mianwali district along with Deputy Commissioner Mianwali Khalid Javed Goraya to review the ongoing relief efforts.

During the visit, the commissioner toured low-lying areas of Isa Khel Tehsil and Mianwali, including Kacha Tari Khel, the area adjacent to the CPEC route in Kacha Kammar Mushani, and Moza Cheena Pora.

He met with local residents, listened to their concerns, and assessed the relief measures underway. He inspected the Tari Khel Sheikhan Wala flood relief camp and the temporary shelter set up at Nooranga Boys High school.

Irrigation Department officials briefed him that while a few low-lying areas had been submerged due to recent monsoon rains, the main population centers remained safe.

District Emergency Officer Mianwali Engineer Naveed Iqbal reported that residents had been safely relocated along with their livestock and that rescue teams were present round-the-clock to support ongoing relief operations.

The commissioner directed the immediate reinforcement of the protective embankment in Tari Khel and instructed the CEO Health and Additional Director Livestock to ensure the supply of all necessary medicines and vaccines at the relief camps.

He also urged the district administration to stay on high alert for any potential emergency.

Later, the commissioner visited the Jinnah Barrage and inspected the SCADA-based Command and Control System of the river.

The visit was also attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Ms. Sarya Haider Khan, Assistant Commissioner Mianwali Mr. Salman Qayyum Sheikh, Assistant Commissioner Isa Khel Mr. Ghulam Murtaza, SE Irrigation Mr. Yasir Munir, EXEN Jinnah Barrage Mr. Ahmad Rafiq, and Additional Director Livestock Dr. Muti Ul Salam.
