Free chest screening camp held for transgender community in Rawalpindi, partner organizations reaffirm commitment to TB

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th May, 2026) With the support of Mercy Corps Pakistan, Green Star Marketing (GSM) and Dareecha Health Society organized a free chest screening camp for the transgender community in D-Block, Satellite Town, Rawalpindi. The initiative aimed to provide HIV and TB screening along with basic healthcare services to a marginalized and underserved community that often lacks access to quality medical facilities.

During the camp, patients were provided with preliminary screening, diagnosis, and treatment-related services to ensure the timely identification and effective management of diseases such as tuberculosis (TB) and HIV. A total of 85 individuals received OPD consultations, while 83 chest X-rays were conducted. One presumptive TB case was identified, one X-Pert test was performed, and one patient was registered for further treatment and follow-up care.

Mercy Corps Pakistan, Green Star Marketing, and Dareecha Health Society reaffirmed their commitment to organizing similar camps in the future to ensure timely healthcare access for underserved and vulnerable populations.

Officials from Mercy Corps Pakistan, including Country Director Arif Jabbar Khan, Director Programs Dr Adeel Tahir, Human Resources Manager Umar Hayat, Monitoring Manager Fakhra Zafar, Operations Manager Saima Feroz, and Data Manager Syed Nadir Shah, also visited the camp.

They interacted with community members and medical staff and appreciated the collaborative efforts of the partner organizations.

Speaking on the occasion, Mercy Corps Pakistan Country Director Arif Jabbar Khan said:
